ISH Robert Tigerstedt Lifetime Achievement Award 2021

The International Society of Hypertension (ISH) has awarded Prof. Jan Staessen the ISH Robert Tigerstedt Lifetime Achievement Award for 2021.

The ISH Awards Committee recognized his extensive contributions to the field of hypertension research, his leadership of several clinical trials that changed our understanding of hypertension pathogenesis and influenced guidelines of hypertension treatment. Prof. Staessen’s work, focused on testing pharmacogenomic approaches for hypertension therapy, and on genetic epidemiology of hypertension continues to have a major influence on the field. His outstanding service to several professional organizations, as well as mentorship of numerous students, fellows and young faculty members is highly recognized as well. Prof. Staessen will be presented the award at the ISH Awards Ceremony and Presidential Lecture. This is scheduled to take place (virtually) from 12.00 – 13.00 hrs on Tuesday 13th April during the Joint Meeting ESH-ISH2021 ON AIR.
